Modern Slavery Policy

Commitment

AVR Advisory does not tolerate modern slavery in any form. Modern slavery, as defined by the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth), includes human trafficking, slavery, servitude, forced labour, debt bondage, deceptive recruiting for labour or services, forced marriage, and the worst forms of child labour. I am committed to ensuring none of these practices has a place in my business or, so far as I can influence it, my supply chain.

AVR Advisory is the consulting trading name of Victor Alexander Pty Ltd (ABN 52 696 887 242). The practice sits well below the A$100 million revenue threshold that requires a modern slavery statement under the Act. I publish this policy voluntarily, because the commitment matters and because it supports the supply chain obligations of the client organisations I work with. References to "I", "me" and "my" are references to Victor Alexander Pty Ltd trading as AVR Advisory.

My business and supply chain

AVR Advisory provides retail and consumer data advisory services, designed and delivered personally by the founder and director. The practice has no employees. Its supply chain is short and consists mainly of:

  • software and cloud service subscriptions

  • professional services: accounting, legal, insurance and banking

  • IT hardware and office supplies

  • travel and accommodation where engagements require it.

The direct modern slavery risk of a professional services practice of this shape is low: the work is skilled, performed personally, and bought by sophisticated organisations. The residual risk sits deeper in the supply chain, in areas such as electronics manufacturing, data centre construction and services, and travel and hospitality labour. I take that residual risk seriously rather than treating a short supply chain as no supply chain.

The standards I hold

  • I choose reputable suppliers and, for material ones, prefer providers that publish their own modern slavery statements and labour standards.

  • I pay suppliers fairly and on time. Payment practices are a real lever against labour exploitation in small businesses, and I treat them that way.

  • If I engage a subcontractor, it is on written terms, at or above market rates, with the person's right to work respected. I will never knowingly engage forced, bonded, undocumented or child labour.

  • When working inside client organisations, I comply with the client's supplier code of conduct and ethical sourcing policies as they apply to the engagement.

Due diligence and review

I consider modern slavery risk when selecting significant new suppliers, and I review this policy, and the suppliers the practice relies on, at least annually.

Raising a concern

Anyone can raise a modern slavery concern connected to AVR Advisory or its supply chain by emailing andy@avradvisory.com.au. Concerns will be investigated promptly, confidentially and without retaliation. Where conduct may be criminal, I will refer it to the appropriate authorities, including the Australian Federal Police.

Remediation

If the practice were found to have caused or contributed to modern slavery harm, I would act to remedy it. Where harm is linked to a supplier, I will engage that supplier to improve its practices and end the relationship if it does not improve.

Approval

This policy is approved by Andy Ralphs, Director, Victor Alexander Pty Ltd, and is reviewed annually.
